Getting started

GalacTelecast combines a Discord bot with a web dashboard for RSS publishing, free game alerts, and service monitoring. Every Discord server starts with access to the core Free experience.

1. Add GalacTelecast to Discord

Invite the bot to a server where you have permission to manage applications and channels. After the bot joins, use /help to confirm that it is available and to explore the command categories.

Create dedicated channels before configuring automations:

• #rss-news for feed updates
• #game-deals for free game alerts
• #service-status for monitoring notices
• #announcements for important community information

2. Sign in to the dashboard

Open the GalacTelecast dashboard and sign in with Discord. The dashboard only shows servers you are allowed to manage.

Select a server to open its workspace. Each server keeps its own channels, feeds, monitors, and alert preferences.

3. Configure your first feature

Choose the workflow that matters most to your community:

• Add a source from the RSS catalog or use /rss add.
• Choose a destination channel for free game alerts.
• Add a website, API, or game server to status monitoring.

Use the dashboard for detailed configuration and Discord commands for quick changes.

4. Verify delivery

Test each workflow before announcing it to your community:

• Use /rss test to verify a feed.
• Use /game send to send the latest available game alert.
• Use /status check to run an immediate monitor check.
• Use /ping to confirm that the bot is responding normally.

Discord permissions

GalacTelecast needs enough access to perform the actions you configure. In destination channels, confirm that it can:

• View the channel
• Send messages
• Embed links
• Attach files when a feed or alert includes media
• Read message history when an interactive management menu needs context

Command access is controlled by Discord permissions and the permissions required by each feature. Give management commands only to trusted moderators or administrators.

A practical first-day checklist

• Create dedicated notification channels.
• Add one RSS source and run /rss test.
• Select a game-alert channel and run /game test.
• Add one website or server monitor and run /status check.
• Create a status board for your community.
• Run /help so moderators know where to find command guidance.
• Review the dashboard after the first notifications arrive.

Authentication and account settings

Discord is used to sign in to the dashboard. Your profile includes your identity, linked Patreon membership, and activated server allocations. Patreon manages paid membership billing, while GalacTelecast uses membership status to determine eligible plan benefits.
